Shared world: intercultural dialogue & support for CALD community leaders

Offered in 2025, our Intercultural Dialogue and Support sessions will engage women leaders from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities in the Newcastle area.

CALD community leaders face unique pressures, which can lead to high stress and burnout. Integration issues, and the impact of war and displacement on social networks and mental health, makes working with some communities very challenging. Our goal is to provide training, mentoring, and support to enhance the well-being and effectiveness of women leaders.

Through oral storytelling and other art forms, participants will develop their communication skills, extend their leadership and peace-building abilities, increase intercultural and inter-religious understanding, and form a supportive social network.

Sessions will take place at Wallsend Library across 12 weeks, followed by 2 studio-based workshops with local artists, where participants will develop creative ways to express their learning and apply community-building and self-care techniques.

Proudly supported by City of Newcastle’s Social Inclusion Grant program.
