Shodan Fit promotes the health and well-being of recently arrived Afghan refugee women through a women’s only gym membership and social outdoor fitness program in Newcastle, NSW. The program offers gym membership and specialised fitness classes with Dari-language interpretation. The outdoor classes include walking, jogging, netball instruction, and social games, as well as conversations about healthy lifestyle choices, self care, and cultural/gender norms around exercise and sport.

Shodan Fit aims to support participants by:

  • Improving physical health

  • Enhancing mental well-being

  • Facilitating cultural integration

  • Increasing confidence

  • Building a sense of belonging

The Self Care Sisterhood is a women's only gym committed to helping women get strong, move for their minds, ditch diet culture and say hello to body trust.
